Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House - 420 West County Line Road - Barrington, IL

Cook - Part Time (up to 26 hours per week)

  • Duties: Effectively coordinate and prepare menu items, review menus, cook meals, properly label and store food and assist with service.
  • Qualifications:Must complete DCFS and criminal background check. Must also have two years of cooking experience preferred; a high school diploma/GED; State of Illinois Sanitation Certificate or obtain one within 6 months of hire; be energetic and dedicated with a professional attitude.
  • Physical demands include: the ability to stand for 6 or more hours; lift up to 50 lbs.; exert up to 50 lbs. of force; overhead lifting of up to 10 lbs.; withstand work environment of variant temperatures; handling items of variant temperatures; walking; squatting; bending; and reaching.
  • Hours: Exact hours to be discussed. Facility is open daily. Late afternoons and evenings. Weekend availability may be required.

Catering Events and Cafeteria Manager - Full Time

  • Duties: Ensure customer satisfaction by creating a positive, exciting, and attractive dining experience to include innovative concepts and weekly promotions to increase visibility, interest and enthusiasm in the cafeteria; collaborate with Director of Dining Services to create cafeteria cycle menu utilizing the freshest ingredients and highest quality products; plan, organize and execute catering functions ensuring client satisfaction in all aspects of the delivery of food and services; develop event menus, incorporating client's requests and preferences, while keeping in line with financial goals; collaborate with Production Manager to select food and supplies for cafeteria and catering events; demonstrate good judgment in decision making and is courteous and respectful to co-workers and customers.
  • Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years of culinary experience with front and back of the house restaurant or professional catering experience; degree in Food Service Management or Culinary Arts (preferred); keep current with industry trends; possess an IL Department of Public Health Sanitation Manager Certificate, or obtains one within 6 months of employment; possess the experience, talent, culinary and organizational skills to manage high profile events; professional image and conduct self professionally at all times; time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple demands; excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as professional interpersonal skills; ability to maintain information in a confidential and sensitive manner; proficient computer skills with emphasis on Word, Excel and Power Point; strong mathematical skills.

  • Duties: Food preparation, serving, maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment, dish washing, and other assigned tasks.
  • Qualifications: Candidates must complete DCFS and criminal background check. Must have HS Diploma/GED. Prefer 1 year of food service experience.
  • Physical demands include: the ability to stand for 5 or more hours; lift up to 50 lbs; exert up to 50 lbs of force; overhead lifting of up to 20 lbs; withstand work environment of variant temperatures; handling items of variant temperatures; walking; squatting; bending; and reaching.
  • Hours: Must be able to work 3PM-8PM, 4 days a week including weekends.
